SAINT PHILOMENA MESSENGER March, 2011 A.D.
ISSUE NUMBER 53
IS THE CATHOLIC CHURCH “GOING DOWN THE DRAIN”?
Dear Friends of Saint Philomena,
Our Lord Jesus Christ promised that the “Gates of Hell” would never prevail against His Church (Mt. 16:18). We believe this with all our heart.
Recent events, however emphasize the terrible state His Church is in. Particularly responsible for the parlous state of the Catholic Church today are Popes John Paul II (In my view the worst Pope ever) and Benedict XVI.
Benedict has done nothing to restore the Church, apart from a liking to “dress up” or be “High Church”. Yes, he replaced John Paul’s plastic chair with the Papal Throne, his “Polish working man’s shoes” with the red velvet papal slippers (easier now to kiss the foot of Peter), wears traditional vestments, but… all of this is perfume thrown on the foul-smelling legacy of Vatican II.
Thousands of Latin American Catholics are apostatizing every day. They become Protestants of a thousand and one varieties, Jehovah Witnesses, Mormons and worse! El Salvador and Guatemala are now Protestant countries. Many others will soon follow. Europe is now lost to the Faith. It is disgusting to have to “run the gauntlet” of dozens of Jehovah Witnesses who line the streets on the way to church each morning here in Miami. They are all Hispanic apostate Catholics now filled with venomous hatred of the Church of their baptism!
The modern Catholic Church does nothing, it cannot! It is bound by the (unsaid but obvious –“actions speak louder than words”) teaching of John Paul II that all religions are good and everybody goes to Heaven. Well, the Baptists do not believe that, neither do the thousands of “Evangelical” Protestant sects, the Jehovah’s or the Mormons!
The Vatican II Church has lost its missionary spirit. It no longer seeks to convert the Jews. It no longer seeks to convert anybody. The Missionary Orders are either dead or dying. They have no longer a reason for existence.
Our Lord Jesus Christ said: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations” (Mt.28:19). “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to the whole creation. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.” (Mk. 15:16)
CARDINAL (and one to be) BREAKS THE FIRST COMMANDMENT
"Archbishop of Mumbai Mons Ivan Dias lighting the lamp in front of Ganesha at the inauguration of an international seminar on Hindu-Christian cosmology and anthropology in Mumbai."
The Hindu demon “Ganesha” worshipped by Cardinal Dias!
Cardinal Ivan Dias, as Archbishop of Mumbai, made an act of worship to the Hindu demon Ganesha in 1997. Yet this evil man who would have been expelled from the Church in former years for this act of public idolatry was made a Cardinal and Prefect of the Congregation of Evangelization of the Nations by Pope John Paul II. No wonder there is no evangelization going on!
Another “blessing” on us by “JPII we luv U”!
Archbishop Vincent Nichols of Westminster, England, who will be (God forbid!) Cardinal on the death of his awful predecessor (appointed by JP II) Cormack Murphy O’Connor (which might take some time, since Cormack appears to have great longevity), has followed the examples of JPII and Cardinal Dias and has “gone Hindu”:
His Grace “Offered flowers” at the shrine of Hindu deities (demons) in 2009 during “Interfaith Week”. He was also “annointed”on this occasion by the Hindu priest (of Satan). May God forgive him! The camera, sadly, does not lie. May God help the Catholic Church in England!
With “Catholic” leaders like these, the Devil must be happily on holiday!
THE “ANGLICAN” ORDINARIATE
As an ex-Anglican I rejoice in the prospect of many members of that Protestant sect becoming Catholics as a result of the Anglican Ordinariate, but I fear that many are converting for the wrong reasons. How many will embrace tradition? Most of the High Church Anglicans (in England) who are now interested in converting smashed their altars and altar rails and adopted the Novus Ordo Mass years ago!
When Archbishop Lefebvre consecrated four bishops without papal mandate in 1988 he thought the extraordinary situation created would last no more than five years. We are now 23 years later. Nothing seems to have changed. Indeed things look worse!
Pope Benedict XVI has called for another inter-religious meeting at Assisi this year to mark the 25th. Anniversary of Pope John Paul’s event of 1986. I well remember it, being in Italy at that time, hearing confessions at the Shrine of Our Lady of the Rosary, Pompeii. I well recall the general euphoria amongst my brother priests and religious that “All religions were at last getting together”!
Bishop Fellay, the Superior General of the Society of Saint Pius X had this to say regarding the Pope’s proposal:
“We are deeply indignant, we vehemently protest against the repetition of the days at Assisi. Everything we have said, everything that Archbishop Lefevbre had said at the time (of the first World Day of Prayer for Peace in Assisi 1986), we repeat in our own name.”
“He who now sits upon the throne of Peter mocks publicly the first article of the Creed and the First Commandment of God. The scandal given to Catholic souls cannot be measured. The Church is shaken to its very foundations.”
This is a “public sin against the one true God, the Word Incarnate and His Church.”
Together with Bishop De Castro Meyer, Archbishop Lefevbre denounced John Paul II for having “encouraged false religions to pray to their false gods, as an unprecedented and immeasurable scandal…. An inconceivably impious and intolerable humiliation to those who remain true Catholics, loyally professing the same Faith of twenty centuries.”
The other horror of the year is the proximate beatification of John Paul II.
This is truly shocking, meant to take place on the first day of May!
To be a Saint it is not enough to work a miracle. One must be a great example for Christians to follow.
This man was NOT a good example!
He promoted the errors of false ecumenism, religious liberty. He participated in non-Christian rites, receiving the “mark of Shiva” (anointing with cow dung in honour of a demon) during his visit to India, and most particularly in the Roman synagogue with the Jews praying for the coming of the Messiah, apparently for the FIRST time!
He publicly kissed the Koran, the demonically inspired “Holy book” of the Muslims that blasphemes the Trinity. He gave an Episcopal ring and pectoral Cross (symbols of the episcopate) to Mr. Williams, the pseudo-archbishop of Canterbury, a vile sin against charity, since the gesture helped Williams to continue in his erroneous belief that he is a Catholic bishop, whereas he is nothing more than an heretical layman.
During his tenure the Vatican financial scandal continued un-investigated, bad bishops continued to be appointed and the clergy morality scandal arose and went mostly unchecked.
In all this we must reassure ourselves, few that we are, that Jesus promised that “The gates of Hell will never prevail”.
NEWS FROM MIAMI
The Forty Hours Devotion, held last October was a great success. This is something that will be of high priority every year now.
We held a moving Requiem Mass in the local cemetery in November. The singing of the Mass was exquisite, attendance up on previous years.
Christmass and New Year services were well attended and we continue (miraculously) to pay the bills. So as we enter Lent, I wish you:
Every Blessing for an Holy Lent and Blessed Easter!
The Reverend Father Timothy A. Hopkins, Administrator.
